Gareth Edwards - Rugby Union Legend

Sir Gareth Owen Edwards CBE (born 12 July 1947) – A legendary scrum-half, Edwards was central to Wales’ dominance in the 1970s, winning seven Five Nations titles and three Triple Crowns. His famous try for the Barbarians against New Zealand in 1973 is widely regarded as one of the greatest in rugby history.

Edwards was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 1975 Birthday Honours for services to Welsh rugby football; he was promoted to Commander (CBE) in the 2007 New Year Honours, "for services to sport, particularly rugby. He was knighted in the 2015 Birthday Honours, for services to sport and for charitable services.
